Helpful Hint

  • This week's helpful hint comes from member Mariah R:
    • Another Crafty One. And this is a two part-er.
  • 1) If you have a rotary cutter save the old fabric blades for use on paper/illustration board/cardboard/etc. I just write “For Paper” or “Paper Only” on them in Sharpie. Even if they are too dull to reliably cute fabric they are still great to get straight cuts on paper materials!
  • 2) When using a rotary cutter on other materials you can still use quilting rulers to line everything up and cut clean straight lines. And because the blades are made to work with quilting rulers you won't end up cutting into the ruler like you might with an xacto blade.

Safety Note

  • This week's safety tip comes from member Dan L:
    • When changing the blade on a grinder, be sure to unplug it. It will help save you from getting stitches in your hand.
    • To that end, when ever using ANY power tool (big or small), unplug it before working on it.

Rule and Regulation of the Week

  • Space Improvement Days are usually held the last weekend of the month on alternating Saturday's and Sundays.
  • The next SID is SUNDAY, December 3rd
  • If you use the Space, you should participate to make the Space better.
  • If you want to join as a member, or you are a new member, you should participate as it is a great way to meet members, area champions and board members.
  • The Space only gets more awesome through active members.
