Special Announcement: Alcoholic beverages
This has always been a grey area.
Hats off to Anna for diligently and proactively getting a definitive answer from the state, thus keeping us out of potentially serious trouble.
Even if no one is selling, the problem is with storage – specifically that it is accessible to members who are not yet 21.
Until further notice there shall be no Common Beer 'Fridge.
You can't have a stash of beer, bottle o' wine, etc. – even marked as your own personal stock – in any common 'fridge or storage area.
For members of age, BYO and sharing is fine. (Fear not, Ceramics and Cerveza, Bytes and Beers, and Board Game Night people.) Just take your leftovers home with you.
We are exploring work-arounds that address the legal requirements. (Natch, cus this is the Makerspace, after all!)
As always, no use of shop tools after consuming.
Special Events
Safety Note
Extension cords should be used only when there is no alternative, and must be removed and stored immediately after you're done using them, per the fire inspector, who takes his job very seriously.
Helpful Hint
Rule and Regulation of the Week
You may not place donation items on the floor in front of the Norwich “up-for-grabs” rack. Anything too big to fit on a shelf of that rack, or an appropriate hack rack, requires Board or Area Champion approval before brining the item to our buildings. Items left on the floor will be immediately placed in the dumpster.
Laws and regulations always take precedence over Makerspace rules.
Member Topics and Announcements
Kathy: Seeking donations for auction for Wood shop dust collection system. Due By Oct. 28 Sept. Watch Members Only for more info.
Tim: We have new rules regarding keeping alcoholic beverages on the premises. Basically, no storing any adult beverages at the space. If you bring something, drink it or share it while you're here. And, as always, no shop tools after consuming.
Dan L.: Join me taking out trash for karma.
