Meeting #548 Agenda for November 2, 2021

Agenda

  • Project Updates (Show & Tell!) from Members
  • Member Recognition for Awesomeness
  • Membership Sign-ups
  • Guest & New Member Introductions
    • Board of Directors and Area Champion Introductions
  • Meeting adjourns

Helpful Hint

  • The vertical band saws in the metal shop and wood shop have an adjustable guidepost with the blade guard.
    • The bottom of the guidepost should be placed ~1/8“ to 1/4” above the piece you are cutting
    • This will allow the blade to run against the bearings/bushings as you feed the piece you are cutting.
    • If the guidepost is too high, there is a greater chance the blade will bend or break.

Topics

  • Zelda Pottery Day: Nov 5th at 7PM.
    • Make new 12“ x 12” pavers using old pottery pieces.

Safety Note

  • Take Regular Breaks - Many work-related injuries and illnesses occur because a worker is tired, burned out and not alert to their surroundings. Taking regular breaks helps you stay fresh on the job.
  • One trick to staying alert is to schedule the most difficult tasks when your concentration is best, like first thing in the morning.

Rule and Regulation of the Week

  • From the member handbook: Due to city permitting issues, extended maintenance cannot be performed on gas vehicles. (Electric is fine).

Member Topics and Announcements

* Carl S: FUSION 360 classes are now held at NORWICH (moving from Lenox) at 7 PM. Classes can be attended in person, or virtually (Carl will send you the link). Thank you Carl.

  • These classes are now being recorded and are available for viewing on You Tube. Carl will send you the link.

* CERAMICS AND CERVEZAS every Wednesday..

  • BYOB and enjoy.

* No heavy equipment in the newly paved parking lot for the next few months as the asphalt hardens. Pls reach out to Tom G, Dan J, Jake B or Rudy if you need to use a fork lift outside the building to load/unload. Do NOT attempt to use the fork lift outside the Norwich building.
