Milwaukee Makerspace Scale Model

Brant suggested building a scale model of the space that we could use to explain the layout of the space at events that do not happen at the space, like Maker Faire Milwaukee.

Description

We will build a scale model of the space!

Materials discussed so far include foam core, LEGO, 3D printed objects…

Brant has declared that the scale will be 1 foot = 1/4 inch. (This is 1:48 or O-scale)
Due to weight and transportation concerns, the scale was reduced to 1 foot = 1/8 inch or 1:96

Brant has some stretch goals:

  • Accurate colors for walls and floors
  • Accurate landscaping and exteriors
  • Furniture and equipment
  • People (Lego minifigs or otherwise)

And some “would be fun” ideas:

  • LEDs or EL wire to highlight specific areas, maybe with a pushbutton legend for viewers to explore
  • Use some of the cell phone vibratory motors in the elec lab to build “working” tools and machines that make noise
