Hardware Reorganization Project of 2012

The Need

  • Unsorted bins of screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc. from the Ace Hardware closeout.
  • Hard to find parts quickly.
  • Not clear what items we do and do not have on hand.

Description

  • The East Side of the shelving has been sorted and arranged to house hex bolts, carriage bolts, washers, and nuts.
  • The West Side will be used for anchors, lag screws, sheet metal screws, cap screws, and misc. items.
  • Per Tom Gralewicz's suggestion, items are grouped by size, then by type; making it easier to grab a bolt, washer, and nut quickly.
  • Laser-printed paper labels added to clearly identify bins.
  • Empty bins have been pulled out, flipped around, and inserted backwards for ease of sorting.
  • Note: Plastic label holders slide side-to-side and hinge from the bottom.
    • To open, pull the top of the clear plastic lip inside bin toward you while pressing down on face of label cover with thumb.
    • To close, ensure groove in middle of lip is centered and snap top back over top of grey plastic bin edge.
