In the years I've been part of the Makerspace I've collected a bunch of new skills and gotten to know a bunch of great people. I mostly do crude but effective (sometimes) woodworking and metal working projects, often some sort of gear for outdoorsy adventures. I like the laser engraver, too.
I'm working on a long-term project: an autonomous steam engine that incorporates an Arduino to take care of all the fussing that normally makes steam engines a hassle to operate. It will run on waste vegetable oil, as I'm always interested in finding ways to get value out of stuff that's normally thrown away. I hope to produce enough useful power to charge a deep cycle LA battery for auxiliary home power, etc.
I'm also into aviation and have a little knowledge of aerospace stuff, rockets, etc. I spent a lot of time on our Flugtag project.
Though I'll always regret not going into engineering, I'm a writer by trade.
I joined the MMS in April of 2019.
