Project Updates (Show & Tell!) from Members
- Marcus: dust collector progress continues with connections to select machines.
- Dan J: new vice in welding area and ran gas lines for neon area; repair part for coal forge.

This week's helpful hint comes from Steve Hobley (stephenhobley.com) in MAKE magazine
- Learn how to use a CAD program: I have solved so many problems within a CAD program that, when it comes time for the actual build, I can pretty much sail through it. If you draw everything to scale, you can estimate materials properly, move pieces around, link entities, and test the mechanics — all from the comfort of your armchair/bed/bath. Saves you so much time in the long run and “additional” trips to the hardware store.

This week's safety tip comes from member Jon D (the guy making the cool steam machine):
- If you're drilling sheet metal, always clamp the work piece to the table of the drill press (or the surface, if you're using a hand drill.) Otherwise, at the moment the bit goes through it will grab the piece and spin it, and it will put a gash in your hand. Also, be neat like me and wipe up all the blood after you stanch the bleeding. (DOoh!)

If it is a power tool or has a gas line, you need to be trained on it and be signed off before you can use it.
Please remember, most of the machines in our shops are owned by members and are on loan to the Space.
You may have used a table saw before, but there are differences. Please be trained before using someone else's tools.
