Meeting #544 Agenda for October 5, 2021

Agenda

  • Project Updates (Show & Tell!) from Members
  • Member Recognition for Awesomeness
  • Membership Sign-ups
  • Guest & New Member Introductions
    • Board of Directors and Area Champion Introductions
  • Meeting adjourns

Board of Directors Fall Elections

  • Member-at-Large position:
    • Marcus Schneider nominated, seconded, accepted at last week's member meeting.
    • There were no additional nominations in the following week; Marcus will continue to be a Member at Large.

Helpful Hint

  • Last week's tip was: Doing multiple “same-size” cuts on the table saw (e.g. cutting 50 matching plaques). Use the Rocklear sled with a stopper block and a hold down. This will give you the same size piece, time after time.
  • This week BOD member Alden Hoot recommends:
    • Bevel the bottom edge of that block of wood so the sawdust does NOT collect in a corner you can't easily clean, which can alter your measurement.
    • Alden also recommends reading “Laser Etching Metal: What to Know to Get Started” on m.all3DP.com
      • Too much info to unpack here, but an excellent article to get you started.

Topics

  • Next Board meeting is October 21st at 7 PM at the Norwich building in Bay View.
  • Maker Faire Wrap Party: at Norwich building, on October 23rd from 6 PM to midnight.
    • It is a costume party
  • Next Space Improvement Day: Saturday, October 30th from 1 to 4 PM.

Safety Note

  • Make sure your car is locked at both locations. Even if you are walking away for 5 minutes.

Rule and Regulation of the Week

  • No forge work at Lenox facility after 9 PM.
  • At Norwich: Forge away 24/7
