  • Meeting called to order by Tim at 07:11 PM
  • Minutes approved by 6 of 7 of present, one abstention

New Business

Current Financial Projections

  • Update from Jeff M
  • Membership currently 299 (Maximum was 380); Minimum was ~240 during Covid.

Maker Faire Milwaukee

  • Maker Faire Milwaukee has a set date of Sept 24th-26th, 2021
    • Seeking large-commitment volunteers for large responsibilities
    • Betty Brinn will return the Nerdy Derby track to MMS done
    • Historical investment from MMS of ~$5,000
    • Considering larger investment for 2021 Faire (no investment in 2020)
    • BOD working to define measurable goals.
    • BOD working to define budget; specifically where dollars will be allocated
      • Signage: insure it can be used for multiple events
      • Support for member projects built specifically for the faire
      • Assist with member booth fees?
      • Makers selling products/goods must register with State of WI Dept of Revenue and pay sales tax Not under board jurisdiction

UPDATE ON MAKER FAIRE MILWAUKEE

  • Tim to bring up financials from Carrie
  • Board begin discussion what to sponsor
  • From Carrie:
-I will owe MSOE about 10-15K for staff and services, roughly
-Don't think I can get away with no fencing for PRS and will need to rent, unless Tom has a friend in the business. Say $2500
-Printing/signage/promotions $3000
-Might want to throw up some tents....
    
    *Initial discussion by Board was to fund:
      * Power Wheels: $2,500
      * Signage (reusable): $3,000

New Business

  • New member Veronica showed a draft mock up of mural to potentially be painted on the Norwich building tower wall facing Pennsylvania Ave
  • BOD discussion on current frequently used unofficial logo, simple designs, more complex designs.
  • Possible development of a new, updated, more inclusive logo

UPDATE ON MURAL

  • None, continue other efforts to build out Norwich
  • Alternatively, Makers Village will take over conversations with Veronica

Membership Signups

  • Significant BOD discussion on where to hold meetings to help streamline new member sign ups
  • BOD Agreed on trying to following, starting July 1:
    • On even numbered Tuesdays, the member meeting will be held at Lenox building
    • On odd numbered Tuesdays, the member meeting will be held at the Norwich building
  • New members must attend a meeting and tour each facility prior to be signed up.
  • Tony W updated the web site
  • Tim will send out a wild apriot email message to all current members

UPDATE ON SIGNUPS

  • We have transitioned to meeting in alternative locations for Tuesday meetings. Going smoothly so far.
  • Comments from the people doing the signups
  • Add new members to members-only

Welding Area

  • Send membership vote to have welding gas paid as a building expense/public utility and reimburse area for purchase of gas tanks. (Considerable savings over renting tanks.)

Space Improvement Day

  • Sunday, July 25th; 1 to 4 PM
    • Food plan: grill out burgers and brats at Norwich
    • Announcement on member board

Power Wheels

  • Discussion on potentially moving it to Norwich to have more room for projects at Lenox east room.
  • Need to determine a location
  • 7 of 7 Board members voted Rick Bowman new area champion

Stain Glass

  • Bobby Coon added as co-champion of Stain Glass area.
